A Black History Tribute
As we closed our black history month celebration, we honored one of our own. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says: To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Pastor Raymond Adams, First Lady Josephine Adams and The Mt. Moriah Baptist Church family say thank you to Deacon Gerald Witt for the footprints that he made as he traveled the divine path that God planned for him. He was one of the first African Americans to attend and become a member of the Greenwood High School football team and later played on the Carolina football team with the first African American starter, Jackie Brown. After fulfilling other professional career opportunities, he returned to his hometown to continue God’s purpose for his life. As Greenwood School District 50’s Assistant Superintendent of Administration, as a Deacon at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and through his other affiliations, he has touched and enhanced the lives of so many youth, young adults and senior adults. We present to you a trophy as appreciation for "Making a Difference" and for your service to Humanity. You are BLACK HISTORY!
